Dear RPC,

Get ready to hop on board the Rocky Railway Express where we learn that Jesus's Power pulls us through!

Due to the fluidity of the pandemic, Vacation Bible School will be delivered a little bit differently this year. Yep, VBS is going virtual! Packets will be delivered the weekend of June 26th - 28th so that you have everything you need for an at-home adventure during the week of June 28th. There will be videos featuring some of your favorite people from RPC, activities, music, and more. Please fill out the form by June 14th so that we can best accommodate as many of our children as possible. There's even an option to sign up if you don't have children, but still want to be a part of the fun!

Thanks!

Christian Education

The Christian Education Commission serves to nurture spiritual development and a growing faith through creative educational opportunities, personal and relational experiences, and communal expression of Christian ethics. The committee seeks to do this by:

  • Offering adult, youth, and children’s Christian education classes.
  • Supervising a safe and positive place for younger children to be and learn during worship.
  • Coordinating with committees like Building and Administration to ensure the education space of the church is ideally suited for CE activities.
  • Providing regular youth fellowship and learning events for middle school and high school youth.
  • Encouraging connections across the generations to help parents as they seek to fulfill the commitments made at baptism; to raise their children in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
  • Inviting those who have personal gifts for and a commitment to teaching to serve.

You will find some basic facts about each class, along with a brief description of what the class is studying and its approach to the material. It is impossible to capture the flavor of a class in a single paragraph; but, perhaps this guide will help you find a place to begin exploring.

Sunday School Choices for Spring 2017

Sunday School for Children

At 10:00 we offer a nursery for babies and a Sunday School class for children age 2 years -5th grade.  We meet downstairs in the nursery room with 2 teachers.  From now until Easter we are learning about the life of Jesus.  We share Bible stories and teach about where Jesus traveled.  We will study his baptism and temptations.  We will also learn about the miracles he performed.  We do this through activities like puzzles, story wheels, board games, crafts, and music.
We would like to expand these opportunities by inviting children back downstairs after
Preacher Don has the Children's Sermon.  We will have a small snack and continue with the lesson.  We would love for anyone to join us at either 10:00 and or after the children's sermon.  We encourage the parents to decide when your child is ready to remain in the worship service

High School Sunday School

In 2017 we will continue building our own Sunday School lessons based on Monty Python & The Holy Grail. This is a fun, practical approach to applying God’s word to the increasingly challenging high school times.

Meet in the youth room on the 3rd floor. 10-11. High school age

ADULTS may choose from he following:

Young Adults

The Young Adult Sunday School Class is designed for younger (20s-40s) members and friends (some of us just a wee bit older—but still young at heart).  The direction of our study and discussion format is determined by the class usually spending 4-6 weeks with a topic or book of the Bible.  During the Lenten season, we will be studying the same book as the churchwide Lenten Bible Study.   Join us for this most sacred time and study.

The Truth Seekers Class for Adults

The Truth Seekers Sunday morning Bible Study Class for mature adults, men and women, use the Standard Lesson Quarterly.  Our study for the Spring 2017 quarter centers around “God Loves Us.”  There are three units in this study.  In Unit 1 (March) we will look at God’s Eternal, Preserving and Renewing Love with a study of 1 John, Ephesians, John and Joel focusing from perfect love, to great love, to matchless love and storing love.  Unit 2 (April) will be the study of Psalm 23, John 3, John 20, 1 Peter, Romans and John 10.  This study will focus on shepherding love, saving love, victorious love, reconciling love and protecting love.  Unit 3 (May) study will target the book of Jonah with sustaining, preserving, forgiving and pervasive love.   With a variety of teachers each week, we invite you to become a part of our God Loves Us study.

Adult II

A multi-aged adult Sunday School class (formerly Adult II) uses The International Sunday School Lesson.  Class members participate weekly through scripture reading and class discussion of the week’s lesson.  The spring study will focus on God Loves Us.  We invite you to join with us as we study about how God’s love is: perfect, great, matchless, restoring, shepherding, saving, victorious, reconciling, protecting, sustaining, preserving, forgiving and pervasive.
